Russ commenting on new pup, Gus
Tara,
Thank you also for Gus. He has been doing just fantastically good. I’m almost at a loss for words and how good he’s been doing. He is hunting extremely well. He is pointing, retrieving to a degree, and is extremely smart.
He gets along well with other dogs. He is just as quiet as can be in the house but when he gets outside it’s like a switch is turned on. As a matter of fact we are right now at a preserve in northern Michigan. This will be his second experience on pheasants. It took him like 10 seconds to catch on the last time we were here. Anyway thanks again.
Sincerely, Russ

We really enjoyed purchasing Max through Tara. This was our first hunting dog and Tara was very knowledgable, patient, and accommodating. We believe that novice and experienced gun dog owners would both enjoy working with Gould’s Gun Dogs. Tara continues to be available for questions and is excited to learn how her pup is doing even after 8 months.
Max is very trainable and obviously comes from very good bloodlines. We have relied on a professional trainer to help with some aspects of his training. Even he was impressed with Max’s natural ability to search and point birds. On several occasions the trainer has made comments about how nice he is in the field and how easy he is to control. Max naturally checks in with us, ranges about 30-40 yards, and needs very little direction on coursing the field. We will be working on pointing technique through the winter and into the spring, and Max should be a terrific hunting partner next year.
We were very impressed with Gould’s Gun Dogs and will certainly be back for seconds when we are ready.

I purchased a pup from Tara in November of 2012. I remember searching for a Llewellin breeder that I could trust and feel good and confident about getting a dog from. I met Tara at the Woods and Water Expo in September, 2012. As I talked to Tara and learned about her dogs and her expectations for the homes that she would send her pups to, I began to get so excited because I knew my search was over. I felt so confident in her as a breeder by the way she interviewed me right back to make sure her dogs were going to the best hunting homes. Once I made the decision to purchase a pup, Tara was awesome throughout the process-I can’t say enough about her. She stayed in constant communication as soon as the pups were born sending lots of pictures and updates-I appreciated that so much.

I brought my girl Charley home in November and I’ve been so happy with her. I had lost my lab the previous July and this little girl really helped me to heal. She’s a spunky, quirky, full of energy girl that has become my best buddy. She’s as sweet as they come, but has the hunting instinct in her blood. She’s a bird hunter and that was apparent after her first hunt training session. Shortly after we arrived at the field to meet the trainer a few quail from an earlier session crossed our path and her reaction was so natural as she pointed them. She likes to stay close and check on me when we’re out working in the field which is exactly what I was looking for. I cannot wait for the season to open and the adventures that are ahead.

Gibney and the Schoeck Family

Tara,We can’t be happier with our “little” Gibney! Her personality is absolutely wonderful. She’s developed into a wonderful housemate AND hunting companion. i can’t thank you enough for taking a sincere interest/sympathy in my plight to find an eventual successor to Timber, my 4 year old Llewellin with hip dysplasia. This was a very emotional decision as I’m very passionate about hunting and my dogs. Timber has developed into a super grouse/woodcock dog. However, i knew my/her time together was limited. I wanted to get another dog that would have the opportunity to learn from her and become home/hunting companions. A client of Charlie Linblade(Michigan Wingshooters) recommended you and as we both know, the rest is “history”. I was impressed and sincerely touched how you listened to me and my situation. Initially, if you recall, all your pups were spoken for. However, you took such an interest that you followed up with me to see if I had found a replacement and how Timber was coming along. It was your kindeness and sincerity that convinced me that if you had a pup become available, I’d take advantage of that opportunity. Fortunately, for me, that day came when you phoned me that a potential suitor for your pups had to postpone their purchase until another time. My family and I were so excited. My daughter, Whitney, and I made the three hour trek in “record time” and arrived to behold a bunch of little “fatties”(as we called them!). Your home and whelping area was pristine! You made sure the pups were clean and that mom was well taken care of. It made our family decision an instant one. I just had to convince you to let me have one!!! Seriously, Gibney’s addition has been a true joy. My friends who hunt with me are amazed how far she developed this year. I’m convinced it’s a combination of love, Timber and your bloodlines! This year she’s pointed both grouse and woodcock with Timber and independently. Also, she’s already backing Timber on point! From my experience that’s pretty rare for a year old pup. I’m convinced we’ll have many years at home and in the field together.Respectfully,Dan Schoeck
